James Ivan Hamm

James Ivan Hamm, 88, passed from this life with his family by his side on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at his home. He was born on November 24, 1935 in Winslow to Virgil Lee and Rhoda Blanche (Morton) Hamm. Jim married the love of his life, Barbara A. (Holleman) Hamm on November 24, 1955.

Jim was a US Air Force veteran. He was an HVAC technician for Indiana Bell, retiring in 1991 with 28 years of service. Jim was a member of the Communications Workers of America.

Family left to cherish the memories of Jim include his son, Robert L. Hamm of Linton; daughter, Cheryl Hamm and husband, Randy Wines of Sandborn; six grandchildren, Robby Hamm and wife, Amanda of Lyons, Zevirah ‘Zev’ Hamm and wife, Abby of Bloomfield, Holden Hamm and wife, Stacey of Pinellas Park, Fla., Sara Wines of Madison, Linda Wines of Lynnwood, Wash. and Randy L. Wines of Bloomington as well as four great-grandchildren, Ryan, Brayden, Easten and Oaklynn Hamm.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara Hamm in 2019 and son, Weldon Hamm in 1996.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at Stafford Cemetery in Sandborn with his grandson Robby Hamm officiating. Jim will be laid to rest following military graveside honors presented by American Legion Post 22.

There will be no public visitation.
