Charles L. Sloan

Charles L. Sloan, age 97, of Linton, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2024 at Greene County General Hospital. He was born in Mitchell on June 7, 1926 the son of Lester and Della (Russell) Sloan.

Charles attended Mitchell High School. He started out working with Monon Railroad and then became a conductor for CSX Railroad where he retired from after 46 years. He enjoyed spending time on the computer and being tech savvy, traveling, camping, boating and taking care of his yard to make sure it looked nice. He also used to spend winters with his beloved wife, Norma Jean, in Tucson, Ariz..

He is survived by his loving daughters, Karen Leigh Coulter of Paoli, Barbara Jean (Dick) Morarity of Linton and Myra Lynne (David) Kemp of Dunnellon, Fla.; grandchildren, Bryce Coulter, Bart Coulter, Matthew Morarity, Kimberly Raterman, Jeffrey Walton and Lisa Walton as well as several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Norma Jean (Taflinger) Sloan; son-in-law, Brack Coulter; brother, Robert Eugene Sloan and sisters, Florence Louise Stepp, Dorothy Sears and Mary Ball.

Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. at Mitchell Cemetery in Mitchell on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 with Jeff Fulk officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Linton Food Pantry.
