George “Tim” Timothy Jones

George “Tim” Timothy Jones, age 65, of Linton, passed away peacefully at 1:50 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 in Sarasota, Fla.. He was born in Linton on June 5, 1958 the son of George Jones and Margaret (Sanders) Jones.

Tim was a graduate of Linton Stockton High School. After graduating high school, Tim went to Danville Community College where he played basketball. Tim worked at Peabody Coal Mine, along side his father, and remained there for over 20 years. Tim most recently worked as a delivery driver for Advanced Auto Parts in Linton.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 22 and the B.P.O. Elks 866. Tim was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He spent many of his evenings listening to the games on his radio. He also loved basketball and was proud to be a part of Linton’s varsity team as a starting guard for three years where they won three sectional titles in the 70’s. He was a lover of all animals, especially dogs. He had many dogs over his lifetime that he cherished deeply. Tim enjoyed music and spending time with his family.

He is survived by son, Nick Jones (Kathryn); daughter, Audrey Zaleski (Matt); girlfriend, Teresa Padgett; grandson, Xavier Jones and sisters, Diane Thrasher (Bob) and Cheri Page (Phil).

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at 12 p.m..

Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m..
