Say ‘Hi’ to the new guy
Greetings Greene County! I am Terry Davis and I am new to the area and Greene County Daily World. I am not completely used to talking about myself; however, due to the demands of my newfound employers, I am stepping out of my comfort zone to tell you who I am. As a child, I loved to write and wrote a lot of stories. I idolized superheroes, looking at Batman and Spider-Man as examples of how I should grow as an adult what I could look at becoming as an adult. With these two characters as inspiration, I strove to become just like them.
The billionaire Bruce Wayne part didn’t work out as I hoped, and I never developed spider-powers, however, along the way, I did develop a lot of skills and experience over the course of my life. I joined the Army, traveled all over the place, became a private investigator, and even became a professional kickboxer for a period of time. My transition to becoming a reporter was not planned, though. I’m an Alaskan at heart and Anchorage will always be my home.
Prior to ending up in Indiana, I was preparing to go overseas for work and an unfortunate shooting incident left me having an elbow being replaced and unable to continue in my previous role. To get by, I went back to writing, just as I did when I was a child. After writing for quite a few businesses about things I did not care about, I eventually got the opportunity to work with different news outlets on important topics around the country and eventually I landed here. With that said, I am excited to get to know the members of this community and see what kind of life I can build here outside of the noise of Indianapolis.
Aside from that, I’m just another normal guy. I enjoy hiking, climbing mountains, going to the shooting range, and just figuring out what else I can do in life. I’m probably too honest at times and I can take a good joke or two. That’s about it. With me, what you see is what you get.
Terry is a life long learner and renaissance man with a love of anything outdoors from hunting, shooting, camping, and hiking. Ironically though, he hates fishing.
