Go time for county sports
October is most important month for high school sports if you ask me. The number of sectionals and postseason events seem to go on forever. From cross-country runners advancing to football games with added importance it all goes down in October.
First up is soccer. White River Valley is hosting its first soccer sectional. Problem is they were paired with Bloomfield in boys soccer as the Cardinals would be thrilled to end the season of the Wolverines on their own field.
Cross country gets going with sectionals next week too. In Greene County, all five schools scatter into different sectionals but you know people like Peyton Smith from Linton will go far.
Volleyball has its sectional the week after as Linton is staring down a rematch with Sullivan. In the 1A sectionals, Shakamak and White River Valley are licking their chops at the prospect of taking the sectional from Bloomfield. Bloomfield knows they can still keep it.
Later in the month is football starting its sectional tournament. Linton will be getting everyone’s best shot as the No. 1 team. Especially if Sullivan is the opponent.
Overall, there is plenty to do coming up for me as I hope you are looking forward to it all.
