Welcome to the world, Grandson
The coffee at a hospital is usually not the best, but it is coffee. If it’s fresh it is ok, but after an hour or two, even with half cream, it isn’t good. Pretty much the same at every hospital. I can say this because I’ve been spending several days at a hospital in Colorado.
My youngest daughter Julie was pregnant with her first, a boy. Her original due date was 12 May. The doctor decided for a number of reasons to move the date up and was going to induce her on 5 May. Ok, this allowed us to make plans, which was a good thing. Then, this past Friday, she called and after a scheduled checkup, the doctor decided to start the inducing process that day. So, the plans evaporated, and reaction plans were made. Without the extra time to make the nursery ready, help was needed to prepare for the arrival. We arrived at Denver airport the next day, Saturday afternoon. Going directly to the hospital to be with Julie and her husband Nick, we found her just beginning labor. Giving birth naturally was not to be. Rowan Dennis Jackson was born the next day, Sunday, at 1:11 p.m. via C-section.
He’s a healthy baby boy weighing 7 lbs 9 ozs, 19 inches with a lot of dark hair. Mom and Rowan are doing fine and, hopefully, will get to come home Wednesday.
Update, her and Rowan did make it home on Wednesday. Sue Ann will be staying a few extra days but I should be home in time for the school’s community day. Students will be at locations throughout the city doing various projects for organizations.
In city news, this Sat, 27 April, has been designated the city’s clean-up day. Dumpsters will be available to dispose of non-recyclable trash. There are also dumpsters available to recycle plastics, cardboard and metals. The location is on 12th street SE just on the other side of the railroad tracks. The location will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.. This opportunity is for disposal of trash from city locations only. You may be asked to verify your address when using the non-recycle trash dumpsters. There are some exceptions as electrical or electronic devices cannot be disposed of in the dumpsters. These devices must be taken to the county’s disposal location east of Switz City.
The Comcast cable is coming down at the Evan Witty Memorial Park and holes are being drilled to determine the true status of the possible sink hole. Once the determination is made, proper actions will be taken to fill in the hole so gravel for parking can be spread.
The original plan, before grandson number three, was to talk about wastewater in this blog. I’m sure you will look forward to learning more about that subject in the next blog!
John Preble is currently serving his first term as the Mayor of Linton, Indiana. This blog will serve as one way for the Mayor’s office to communicate news and items of interest to readers.
