Cemetery custodian says comments have been unfair

The custodian of Linton's Fairview Cemetery says recent, negative Sound Offs and Letters to the Editor in the Linton Daily Citizen are unfair. Publicly, through the newspaper, people have complained about grass and mud on the headstones, tall weeds, a corner stone torn out of the ground, and the general upkeep of the cemetery. John Wesley Gainey, 75, of Linton, passed away at 4:40 p.m., Monday, June 9, 2003 at Glenburn Home in Linton. Born Oct. 4, 1927 in Bloomfield, he was the son of William Grover and Martha (Ruth) Gainey. He moved to Linton in 1958 from Bloomfield and spent most of his life as a self-employed painter.
