The Local Coordinating Council (LCC) of the Greene County Substance Abuse Task Force recently awarded a series of mini grants totaling $27,734.01. The grants were presented in the following categories: law enforcement/justice, prevention/education, and intervention/treatment. Monies for these grants were made available from drug and alcohol fines paid through the Greene County Court system...

The Linton Police Department has forwarded information to the prosecutor in connection with an alleged invasion of privacy by Jordan K. Moore against John M. Kenworthy. Moore is currently on probation and under an order to have no contact with Kenworthy...

The area in and around the Bloomfield Town Park on Sunday afternoon will be filled with activities involving fire trucks and water hoses. But there won't be any fires. The park will be the scene of the annual Greene County Firefighter Games. Firefighters from the 12 volunteer fire departments in the county have been invited to participate in the games and fellowship with other first responders who play a vital role in protecting the property of citizens and business owners...

A Worthington woman was airlifted to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis this morning following an accident on State Road 48 between Worthington and Jasonville. According to Greene County Sheriff's Department Deputy Terry Wade, Sarah Stinebaugh, 20, of Worthington, was eastbound on S.R. 48 at about 7:30 a.m. when her vehicle -- a 1996 Honda Accord -- left the highway...

BLOOMFIELD -- The Bloomfield boys junior varsity cross country team followed up the varsity win with a title of their own at the Bloomfield Invite here Tuesday. The Cardinals won with 17 points while Washington was second with 31 points and Martinsville finished with 40 points...

The White River Valley volleyball team ended their seven-match losing streak Tuesday night at North Knox. The Lady Wolverines posted a straight set win over the host Warriors 25-19, 25-22, 25-21. With the win WRV improves to 2-9 on the season. Seniors Ashley Graves and Danielle Gardner led the way for the Lady Wolverines with strong play at the net. Graves finished with a team high of 11 kills on the night while Gardner recorded 7 kills...

Vincennes Clark shot a 123 to defeat Linton-Stockton (155), White River Valley (159) and Dugger (196) in a seven-hole junior high school golf match played Tuesday at the Phil Harris Golf Course in Linton. Clark's Zach Thomas shot a 3-over par 28 to earn medalist honors...

Linton-Stockton pushed its volleyball record to 8-4 with a 25-18, 26-24, 26-24 victory in a high school match at Washington Tuesday night. Savannah Mason (17), Samantha Butt (13) teamed up for 30 digs. Bradlea Beard was credited with nine digs, Megan Barnes seven, Jannae Jackson six, Izzy Carpenter four, Brittany Rehmel, Kelsey Foglesong and Tricia Emmons three each and Taneal Church had two...

Bloomfield couldn't overcome its serving woes as the Lady Cardinals lost a 25-22, 25-9, 25-18 decision at Washington Thursday night. The Lady Cards (4-8) misfired 10 of 50 attempts on serve, just 80 percent. "Serving was a big part of this loss," said Bloomfield High School volleyball coach Jennifer Heaton. "We just did not serve well. Shelby (Gott, 5 of 8) missed about as many serves tonight as she had all season...
