It's hard to fathom, but there still, remains only one team in Greene County to ever reach the state finals in the 101-year history of the IHSAA Boys State Championship. Prior to the 1998 tournament and class basketball, just eight Greene County teams had earned a semistate berth. They included six trips by the Bloomfield Cardinals, four by the White River Valley Wolverines and one each by Linton-Stockton, L & M, Lyons, Shakamak and Central, (Switz City)...

The Greene County jobless picture is slowly improving with a 9.4 percent unemployment rate tallied in the latest statistics released early this month by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. The 9.4 percent rate in January was slightly higher than the state average of 9.1 percent...

Motocross racing will return to Linton's Conservation Club in April. Races will kick off at 11 a.m. on April 10 with practice from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. on April 9. The low bidders were awarded construction contracts on two on-going water improvement projects in a special meeting of the Greene County Redevelopment Commission on Monday. Small and Wilson Construction, of Bloomfield, was the successful bidder on the construction of a wastewater treatment plant that that will serve the village of Scotland and the WestGate Tech Park area along with customers along the Interstate 69 corridor near the U.S. 231 junction...

Andrew S. Cooper, 22, of Linton, is serving a sentence in the Indiana Department of Corrections (DOC) on convictions for burglary, auto theft and receiving stolen auto parts.
