Robert Gene VanDeventer, 81, of Noblesville, passed away at 3:40 p.m. Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at his residence. Born April 14, 1931 in Bloomington, he was the son of Erza and Violet (Loveall) VanDeventer. He served his country in the United States Army and retired from GMAC as a financial services manager...

Ruth Hale Haub, 98, of Dugger, passed away at 7:50 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, at Miller's Merry Manor in Sullivan. She was born on Dec. 20, 1913, in Bucktown, Ind., the daughter of Rush Enochs and Gertie (Carrico) Enochs. Ruth graduated from Pleasantville High School and was a seamstress at Gossards. She was a member of Eastern Star for 50 years and Faith Community Church...

The second annual Women's Conference scheduled for Saturday has been postponed to a later date. Greene County Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Coordinator Sandy May said unforeseen circumstances have caused the delay. "We are looking to reschedule possibly in May, which is National Health Awareness Month, or early April," May said...

The 40th Annual Bloomfield Apple Festival queen contest will be conducted Saturday night. Arrest warrants have been issued against four former correctional officers related to an incident Aug. 26 in which a correctional officer from Jasonville died of a heart attack...
