Bethanie Dyar is the 2013 Miss Greene County. She is a junior at White River Valley Junior-Senior High School in Switz City, and will write a blog for the Greene County Daily World throughout the county fair. Friday night was the last night of livestock and fair activities. The only remaining event is the demo derby Saturday at 7, but there will not be any exhibits anywhere. The livestock auction took place tonight. This is a bittersweet event, because you are sad that the week is over and you have to say farewell to your friends, human and animal, but you also get to go home, and soon start preparing for the next year. ...

Alfred Lee Wilkins, 78, of Shelburn, IN passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at his home in Shelburn. He was born on June 3, 1935, in Hymera, IN, the son of Clifford Wilkins and Ernestine May Wilkins. He was an Army veteran and retired from the steel mill in East Chicago.
