Due to the unexpected resignation of director Richard McClellan, the Linton Public Library is searching for a replacement. Library board president Mike Perigo tells the Daily World he and fellow board members hope to fill the vacancy as soon as possible...

August 4 -- Mickey Skyler Coleman, 24, Linton, was arrested on a warrant issued on a parole revocation. He was being held without bond. Linton Police Officer Debbie McDonald-Miller was the arresting officer. August 4 -- Rodney James Hughes, 28, Bloomfield, was arrested on preliminary charges of domestic battery and strangulation. His bond was set at $6,000 surety with ten percent allowed. Bloomfield Deputy Marshal Marvin Holt was the arresting officer...

The Linton Police Department responded to nine calls and incidents on Monday, August 4, including two welfare checks, one alarm, one sex offense, one burglary, one warrant served, two thefts and one incident of harassment.

Noah Hawkins begins his third season as girls golf coach at Linton-Stockton High School with a large contingent of ladies. "In my first two years, we have just four golfers, the minimum you have to have to be able to score as a team," said Hawkins, "This year we have seven girls," said Hawkins. High school softball players Jaelyn Walker of Linton-Stockton, Brooke Lambermont from Shakamak and Kassi Morrison from White River Valley competed on the Indiana Havoc '99 softball team that was based out of Terre Haute. They finished their season with a 62-17 record. ...

The Indiana Department of Education has released the ISTEP+ scores for the Spring 2014 academic year and the results have shown that the Bloomfield School District scored the best in the county with their students obtaining the best rate for passing both the English/Language Arts and the Math section at 77.9 percent...

Shakamak High School will be hosting an elementary volleyball league this year. The league is wide open to any girl at Shakamak, grades 2-6. The cost will be $30 per girl and $10 for each additional girl in the same immediate family. The league dates are Saturdays, Aug. 16, 23, 30, Sept. 6, 13, Oct. 4 and 11...

Wednesday, August 6 The Kid's Movie Day will be at the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene Public Library for children and their families through grade 6. The movie will start at 1 p.m. and has a PG rating. Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Hot dogs, chips, and drinks will be provided...

Larry and Debra Baird opened a flower and gift shop West of Bloomfield on State Road 54 called Farmhouse Kreations. The business is located inside of the Ball-Spencer Photography Building. Debra says that the shop was started at her house, however, they officially opened for business at their Bloomfield location on Mothers Day Weekend...

BLOOMFIELD -- The Greene County Commissioners gave the final approval for the Greene County Community Building in their regular bi-weekly meeting Tuesday morning. By a unanimous vote, the commissioners officially awarded the construction contract for the new facility to Wolfe Construction of Vincennes.....

The Family Life Center is setting up appointments for local students to receive a new backpack filled with school supplies to start off the 2014-2015 school year. The Family Life Center uses a "Magic Bus" to travel around the county so that students from every school district can be a part of this event.....
