October 10 -- Robert Blaine Smith, 22, Linton, as arrested on preliminary charges of possession of a synthetic drug and possession of paraphernalia. LITTLE CINCINNATI - Eastern Greene coach Whitney Richardson thought her Lady Thunderbirds got off to a slow start and let Shakamak creep back into contention in the opening two sets Monday at Eastern Greene. It didn't seem to matter as the T-Birds pulled away to win those first two sets by identical 25-18 scores and coming on strong for a 25-13 win in the third to close out the Southwestern Indiana Athletic Conference portion of the season with a sweep of the Lady Lakers...

A little more than 12 hours after the IHSAA announced the pairings for the football state playoff tournament, the association released sectional pairings for volleyball. Congressman Larry Bucshon was the guest speaker Monday afternoon at the Linton-Stockton Chamber of Commerce's monthly meeting. The group normally meets on Tuesdays; however, they met on Monday due to the Congressman's busy schedule. Bucshon was originally scheduled to speak to the group in August, but he fell ill and was unable to come. He kept his commitment to the organization and met with them Monday afternoon at the meeting, which was hosted at Glenburn Home...

When a Jasonville man appeared in Greene Superior Court last Friday, he was charged with torturing or mutilating a vertebrate animal, a Level 6 Felony. He allegedly decapitated a dog with an ax then tossed the dog's body along a county road on September 14.....

In memory of William (Bill) Dunigan and Darrell Dunigan, brothers who lost their lives to Parkinson's Disease, there will be a cycling fundraiser once again at the Worthington City Park on Saturday, Oct. 17, to benefit the National Parkinson Foundation.....
