Shirley Mae (Owen) Martindale “Granny”, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2019 at her residence with her family by her side. Shirley was born July 21, 1941 to Colvert Owen and Mary (Cook) Owen. Survivors include her daughters, Teresa Pierce of Centralia, Mo., Tammy (Morris) Summerville of Bloomington; one son, Jerry David Burger of Linton; her grandchildren, Amy (Matt) Smith, Travis (Sally) Summerville, Ashley Oconner, Hayley Brooks, Adam Pierce, Zackery Burger, Mari (Chai) Parkes; she has 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Kay (Donald) Dowden of Martinsville and several nieces and nephews.. ...

A local archery shop was recognized at a recent state tournament for continuously bringing in new participants. For the second year in a row, Shooters Archery in Linton was recognized for “Most New Shooters” at the Indiana Field Archery Association State Indoor Tournament, with several of their participants earning high ranks in the contest.
