To the Editor:

The Butler University Ambassadors for Children (BUAFC) is spearheading a campus, community, and potentially statewide campaign to raise $35,000 to build a school in Kampala, Uganda. The campaign is titled, "The Power of Children: A BUAFC Initiative."

This campaign was founded by an older fraternity brother and role model of mine, Michael Hole, and is an extremely awesome idea. As part of this organization, I am excited to assist with this important endeavor and I hope that you will too.

Potentially built this summer, this school will supply more than an educational need, but also hope and empowerment in the form of education.

Ambassadors for Children (AFC) is a not-for-profit, charitable organization that works to improve the lives of children who live, work, and study in impoverished communities. AFC not only offers its volunteers an opportunity to empower struggling communities around the world, but also provides a cultural immersion and rare recreational experience. The organization has operated trips to aid children in Mexico, Guatemala, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Kenya, Ecuador, Peru, Brazil, Vietnam, Belize, Serbia, Uganda, Native American Reservations in the United States, and other communities in need.

BUAFC is partnering with Building Tomorrow, an Indianapolis not-for-profit organization, to coordinate the logistics of building the school. The six-classroom, one-library primary school will serve nearly 350 Ugandan children ranging from ages 4 to 14. The school will include latrines, running water, and electricity. Desks for students and teachers, blackboards, and other basic teaching materials are also included in the cost. The national AFC headquarters will aid the "Power of Children" initiative by recruiting teachers, education students, and anyone else interested in serving the school during service trips to Kampala, Uganda, as well as funding a library for the school.

The power to bring positive change in Uganda lies in the hands of the youth. Your donation will help empower the children of an impoverished country. I thank you in advance for your consideration, support, and awareness in this campaign.

Checks can be made to "Ambassadors for Children" with "BUAFC -- POC" in the memo space. They can then be sent to Ambassadors for Children Attn: BUAFC Power of Children 1201 N. Central Avenue, IN 46202. Visa and MasterCard donations are also accepted by calling AFC headquarters at the toll free number 1-866-338-3468. A donation notification will be sent to you for your use when filing taxes. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

One child at a time,
