FREE ACCESS: Greene County EMA issues winter weather statement

Monday, January 31, 2022

The Greene County Emergency Management Agency issued the following press release:

“Snow fall can be a beautiful dreamland but can turn into a nightmare if you are not ready,” said Director of Greene County Emergency Management Agency Roger Axe. “We don’t know what weather we will have, but you have time to prepare in case. Also, if there is no bad weather, you won’t lose what you have spent, you will have it for consumption.

“We are advising that you take stock and have plenty of the following on hand: food, fuel for your vehicle and home, medication and necessary household supplies. In addition, get your errands completed before Wednesday night if the snow starts so you won’t have to travel if the snow comes.

If you don’t have to get out, stay home so you don’t put yourself at risk or the rescue responders if you would have trouble traveling.

If we get the extreme cold of the weekend, consider keeping a small stream of water running in a sink to keep your pipes from freezing. Don’t forget gas line anti-freeze for your vehicles.

Be especially careful about shoveling snow to avoid heart attacks.”
