FREE ACCESS: Greene County EMA asks residents to stay home Wednesday

Monday, January 31, 2022

Warning residents of a predicted accumulation of ice on the roads beginning Wednesday afternoon, Greene County Emergency Management Agency Director Roger Axe advises we all rethink the importance of any activities we may have planned for Wednesday evening.

“Wednesday night activities are not worth the risk,” he said. “We could be getting ice starting in the afternoon that could be very dangerous. It takes only a quarter of an inch of ice to be dangerous.”

Ice on the road, Axe explained, causes vehicles to lose traction, which equals loss of control.

“We are asking organizations with activities scheduled Wednesday night to cancel them and to not put drivers, as well as law enforcement and first responders at risk on the road.”
