FREE ACCESS: Greene County Commissioners: ‘Stay off of the roads’

Thursday, February 3, 2022

In a press release issued Thursday by Greene County Emergency Management Agency (GCEMA) Director Roger Axe, Greene County Commissioners’ President Nathan Abrams has increased the area’s road status level to Level 2, which translates to ““conditions are threatening to the safety of the public. During a ‘watch’ travel advisory, only essential travel, such as to and from work or in emergency situations, is recommended and emergency action plans should be implemented by businesses, schools, government agencies and other organizations.”

Abrams said after conferring with Greene County Highway Superintendent Roger Hamilton, “We feel that road conditions are such that they will only worsen today (Thursday). That is why I have taken this action to protect the citizens of the county. Although the roads may not look dangerous now, people on the roads only increase the chance of accidents and injury,” he said. “Also, people may start out, but as conditions worsen, they may have great difficulty getting back home or may not be able to get back home at all. As we have said before, stay off of the roads.”
