Naoma J. Cooper, 81, of Jasonville, went to Heaven peacefully, with loving family by her side, on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at her home. She was born on August 20, 1941 in Linton, to Gene P. and Mary N. (Lehman) Herndon.

Naoma was a member of the Lyons Assembly of God. She loved taking care of her home and family and also worked at Peabody Coal Co. Hawthorne Mine, retiring in 1996 with several years of service. Naoma enjoyed spending time with her family, attending her grandkids sporting events, cooking and working in her yard and flower gardens.

Family left to cherish the memory of Naoma include two daughters, Tammy (Tim) Holder of Lyons and Teresa Wilson of Linton; five grandchildren, Ronny Collins, Miranda Shank, Tommy Edmondson, Ryan Wilson and Erin Wilson-Haynes; eight great-grandchildren and one brother, Bill ‘Doc’ (Susan) Herndon of Jasonville.

Naoma was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Teena Rose Cooper-Collins; great-grandson, Seth Olin Shank; two brothers, Donnie Herndon and Phillip Herndon.

Funeral services to honor the life of Naoma will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Anderson-Poindexter Chapel in Linton with Pastor Matt Wall officiating.

Naoma will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Linton.

Family and friends may call from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, February 3 and from

9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
