Linton Fire Station offers drive-thru donation station for Sullivan
The Linton Fire Department has had a very busy weekend, gathering up and delivering supplies to Sullivan residents displaced by the F3 tornado that ripped through the area last Friday, destroying 155 homes in Sullivan and taking three lives.
“It has been a very busy few days,” said Linton Fire Chief Colton Murray. “But we are holding up well. We have had many people reach out, wanting to help.”
The department has created a drive-through donation station for those wishing to donate items for those in need in Sullivan, and Linton Police are helping as well, offering their space for items if the firefighters are on a call.
Fire department staff were able to fill one trailer and part of another on Sunday. Murray said off-duty firefighters delivered items to the Sullivan Civic Center Sunday evening, and plan to return with more items as donations come in.
“All the credit goes to my fellow firefighters at the station, and their families” Murray said. “They are all busting their butts to make this happen, so all credit goes to them.”
Donations will be taken from noon to 7 p.m. Monday at the LFD.
The department released the following list of needed items:
