James Williams Jr.

James Williams Jr., 86, of Dugger passed away Sunday, March 26, 2023, at Sullivan Co. Community Hospital.

He was born in Linton September 9, 1936, the son of James Ross Williams Sr. and Electa Mae Pertuset Williams.

Jim was a pilot and had a love for flying a plane. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #84 in Bloomfield and the Zorah Shrine. He was known in this part of Indiana for his shooting prowess.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Eugene Williams; and three sisters, Marjorie Demaree, Nettie Hutter and June Defrees.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years Ruth Swan Williams, whom he married on January 25, 1957; and three sons, Steven R. Williams (Victoria) of Murfreesboro, Tenn., James Richard Williams (Cinda) of Bloomfield and Michael Williams (Dana) of Dugger; his daughter, Kelli J. Miller (Doug) of Bloomfield; and nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held on May 6, from 2-4 p.m. at Bloomfield First Christian Church, Fellowship Hall. All family and friends are welcome to join us as we share special memories of our dad and grandfather. Light refreshments will be served.
