William F. “Bill” Walker

William F. “Bill” Walker, age 74, of Linton, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, at 7:53 p.m. on Monday April 24, 2023, at IU Health Bloomington Hospital. He was born in Vincennes on May 7, 1948, the son of Spencer F. and Mary Ellen (Coffel) Walker.

Bill was a 1966 graduate of Linton-Stockton High School. He furthered his education at Purdue University, where he graduated in 1970. He also served in the Army National Guard for 12 years.

He was a member of the F. & A.M. Linton Masonic Lodge 560 and a past Exalted Ruler of the B.P.O. Linton Elks Lodge 866. He loved to collect antiques, rocks, and coins and enjoyed Purdue, rum and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bill is survived by his wife of over fifty-four years, Peggy J. (Priest) Walker; two sons, Cris (Claudia) Walker and Mike Walker, both of Linton; three grandchildren, Cayden Walker (Hayley England), Camryn Walker (Jaydan Miller), and Mattingly Walker; two great-granddaughters, Renley and Lainey Walker; two brothers, Rodney (Carol) Walker and Jim (Mazie) Walker; a sister-in-law, B.J. Ryser; and two brothers-in-law, Steve and Jim Priest.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Margaret Priest; his brother, Mel Walker, and a brother-in-law, Herb Priest.

Funeral service will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 29, 2023, with Doug Francis officiating.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 5-8 p.m. with Masonic Service at 7 p.m. and Saturday from 12 p.m. until the time of service.
