Randy Joe Graves, age 67, of Laurinburg, N.C., formerly of Worthington and Linton passed away Friday, April 28, 2023 at First Health Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, N.C.. He was born in Linton on January 19, 1956, the son of Austin “Buster” Glenn and Ruth Geraldine (Wilson) Graves.

Randy was a 1974 graduate of Worthington-Jefferson High School and furthered his education at the University of Indianapolis, where he graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration.

He retired as a production location manager from Corteva AgriScience (formally Pioneer Hi-Bred/DuPont Pioneer) after 42 years in April 2021. As an active member of the Scotch Meadows Country Club, he enjoyed playing daily golf with his brother Terry and the Friday Senior Mens Group. He was an avid UNC and Colts fan, loved the Andy Griffith Show, going out to eat with family, playing drums, the disco era, dancing and playing Santa Claus. Family was most important to him. He was proud of both of his children and so happy to be a new papa to little Sophie.

Randy is survived by his wife of 33 years, Sondra “Soni” Kay (McKain) Graves; son, Austin (Christy) Graves; daughter, Kayli (Dawson) Shelley; three-month-old granddaughter, Sophia Anne Graves; brother, Terry (Linda) Graves; niece Heather (Kevin) Rader; nephew Kelsey Graves; niece Allison Veatch and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents John and Rose Wilson and Carl and Mina (Frye) Graves; special cousin Jimmy Cooper and many aunts and uncles.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton on Sunday, May 7, 2023 with visitation from 11 a.m. until the time of service with Rev. Randy Easton officiating. Burial will follow at Merom Cemetery in Merom.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Scotch Meadows Country Club (Laurinburg) or Tunnel To Towers Foundation through the funeral home.
