Dessie D. Sanders

Dessie D. Sanders, age 96, of Linton, passed away peacefully at 7:48 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at Autumn Trace. She was born in Freelandville on March 7, 1927, the daughter of Vairon Cassell and Nora (Clark) Cassell.

Dessie was a housewife and enjoyed spending her time caring for her family. She loved camping with family, gardening and sewing.

Dessie was a member of the Jolly Mothers Extension Club. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her children, Peggy (Steve) Creech of Bloomington, Tom (Ellen) Sanders of Bloomington, Carol Posey of Terre Haute, Bill (Ellen) Sanders of Linton and Randy (Frankie) Sanders of Brownsburg; grandchildren, Wendi Goodlett, Christin (Rob) Schippnick, Garrett Sanders, Nick Posey, Jared Sanders, Erin Sanders, Alexis (Keith) Fulk, Randi (Steve) Farris and Tate (Alyssa) Sanders; great-grandchildren, Baileigh Goodlett, Sydne Goodlett, Stevie Farris, Charleigh Farris, Pierce Sanders, Ashlin Schippnick, Tyler Schippnick and Landon Schippnick.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Oscar Leon Sanders; sisters, Dorothy, Mildred and Loretta; brother, Bill; and son-in-law, Steve Posey.

Funeral service will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home on Monday, May 8, 2023 at 1 p.m. with Pastor Benn Biggs officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.

The family of Dessie would like to share a special “Thank You” to Beth Swaby for the exceptional care and love she shared with their mother.
