James R. “Jim” Galloway

James R. “Jim” Galloway, 69, of Jasonville, passed away at 6:25 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at Greene County General Hospital in Linton.

He was born August 27, 1953 in Terre Haute to Paul Joseph Galloway I and Joan (White) Shonk.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Cheryl Galloway of Jasonville, who he married on April 7, 1984; children, Ashley Boram (Jay) of Jasonville and PJ Galloway II (Brittney) of Jasonville; grandchildren, Mahayla, Jordyn, Jaedyn, Aubrie, Brystol, Hudsyn and Gabe Donnar; siblings, Steve Kerr (Libby) of Prairie Creek, Kim Soncrant of Coatsville, Greg White of Jasonville, Robbie White of Coalmont and Kelly Soncrant of Jasonville; several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers in-law, Roger Soncrant and Brent Barbee.

Jim graduated from North Vigo High School Class of 1972. He worked as a union insulator with Local 18 for 17 years and was vice president of Local 18 for four years. He was a member of Silent Men, Brothers of the Woods and a founder of Friends of Shakamak. He was a volunteer firefighter with the Prairie Creek/Prairieton Fire Department. Jim enjoyed attending sprint car races. He enjoyed going to car shows with his hot rod 1956 Chevy Sedan Delivery. Jim liked fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting and bowling. Jim loved his family and spending time with them. His grandkids were a joy to his life.

Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street in Jasonville. Visitation is scheduled from 2-6 p.m. Monday, May 8, 2023 at the funeral home.

Services are immediately following at 6 p.m. with Pastor Ray Austin officiating. There will be a dinner at the Jasonville American Legion following the service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Jim to Cox Funeral Home to help with expenses. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
