Walter A. Caplinger

Walter A. Caplinger, 91, of Bloomfield and formerly of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away Tuesday May 9, 2023 at Greene County General Hospital in Linton.

Born November 19, 1931 in Osgood, the son of Ben and Ellen (Hughes) Caplinger.

Walter was retired from the Timex watch factory and had worked at Kroger; he was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan and loved to sing. Join the family in wearing your Reds or your favorite sports attire in support of Walter.

Surviving relatives include four nieces, Becky (Jeff-who Walter loved with every ounce of his being. Jeff spent endless hours caring for and loving him.) Nickless, Charlene Magni, Cheryl (Randy) Martin and Molly (Paul) Blackburn; two nephews, David Caplinger and Nicholas Caplinger; sister-in-law, Olive Caplinger; several special great-nieces, great-nephews and his special buddy Brayden Combs, whom he dearly loved.

The family wishes to thank GCGH for their exceptional care for Walter and a special thanks to Glenburn Home for their loving care of Walter.

Walter was preceded in death by three brothers, Dallas Caplinger, Roscoe Hughes and Curtis Caplinger; one sister, Evelyn Baechle; one nephew, Curtis Caplinger, Jr.; and his parents.

Visitation will be held from 12-1 p.m. on Monday May 15, 2023 at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Nathan Brooks officiating. Burial will follow at Antioch Cemetery.
