Lola M. Mowery

Lola M. Mowery, 89, of Bloomfield went home to the Lord on June 25, 2023 at her residence.

She was born on December 16, 1933 in Scotland to Edward and Laura (Lester) McElroy. Lola was a lifetime member of the Presbyterian Church, first in Scotland and later transferring Bloomfield. She was employed for over 50 years with the Bloomfield State Bank, retiring in 2003.

Lola is survived by her children, David (Tracy) Chesnut, Marilyn (Steve) Roberts, Carolyn (D.J.) Spencer, John Chesnut, Teresa Chesnut and Brian (Darla) Chesnut. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jason Chesnut, Anthony (Crystal) Vest, Keygan (Kristen) Spencer, Stephanie (Francis Bautista) Tarr, Kimberly Roberts, Deanna (Jeremy) Potts and D’lee (Derek) Thompson, along with great-grandchildren Bailee, Micah, Quinn, Lucy, Georgia, Adam, Trevor, Kelsey, Gavin, Rylynne, Rhaylee, Dalton and Delaney. Lola also has one surviving sister, Martha Ramsey and a brother-in-law, John Allen.

She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter Amber Brooke Chesnut; son-in-law Mark Bohn; companion Max Mowery and siblings Bertha Mitchell, Herb McElroy, Ethel Toon, Mary Ann Floyd, Harold McElroy and her beloved twin sister, Lula Allen.

Visitation will be at Jenkins and Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, June 30, 2023.

Funeral services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Greene County in Bloomfield at 10:30 a.m. on July 1, 2023 with Rev. Hana Elliott officiating. Public visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at the Scotland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Family Life Center or First Presbyterian Church in Bloomfield.
