Norma J. (Mullens) Bemis, 93, of Coalmont, passed away at 10:36 p.m. Sunday, July 23,

2023 in her home in Coalmont.

She was born November 21, 1929 in Coalmont to Otis Mullens and Leora (Snellenberger) Mullens.

Norma married James Alvie Bemis on February 23, 1957, he passed away September 18, 1995. She married Lloyd Cork on Jamuary 11, 2002, he passed away on July 18, 2005.

Survivors include her children, Linda Bemis of Coalmont, Larry Bemis (Diane) of Evansville and Tim Cork (Joan) of West Terre Haute; grandchildren, Bryce Bemis (Jessica), Eric Bemis (Francee Armstrong), Ryan Cork (Andrea), Landis Kaperak (Halee), Scott Lewis (Brittany) and Jason Lewis; great-grandchildren, Peysan Bemis, Harper Bemis, Ethan Cork, Jacquelyn Cork, Isabelle Kaperak, Stella Kaperak, Alissa Lewis, Addison Lewis, Aiden Armstrong, Elijah Armstrong and Liz Armstrong; extended family, Marianne Bemis and Katie Bemis; several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; great-great

-nieces and nephews; and great-great-great-nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; siblings, Cecil Mullens, Floyd Mullens, Louise Kittle, Ressa Raley, Anna Muriel Shew, Dorothy Pilant, Carrie Pilant and Nell Crist; several brothers in-law and sisters in-law.

Norma graduated from Coalmont High School Class of 1948. She worked at Metropolitan School District of Shakamak for 26 years. Norma was a member of Friendly Grove Baptist Church. Norma loved spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids. She loved to decorate for holidays and making candy and baking cookies at Christmas to share with everyone. She liked to garden and being outdoors.

Norma always enjoyed going places and doing things with family. She never missed a chance to go to the casino. She always looked forward to her class reunion and family reunion. Her family wants to give a special thanks to all of Mom’s special angels that were always there when needed in the past few weeks.

Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street in Jasonville. Visitation is scheduled from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 27, 2023 and 9 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home. Funeral services are at 1 p.m. on Friday, with Pastor David Smith and Pastor Jeff Faulk officiating.

Interment will be at K of P Cemetery in Hymera.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Norma to Friendly Grove Ladies Missionary. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
