Margaret “Peggy” M. Panky

Margaret “Peggy” M. Panky, age 93, of Linton, passed away peacefully at 6:10 p.m. on Monday, July 24, 2023, at Glenburn Nursing Home with her family by her side. She was born in Bloomington on April 30, 1930, the daughter of Charles E. Wills and Alma Sophia Wilhemina (Ecker) Wills.

Margaret was a 1947 graduate of Linton Stockton High School. In high school, she worked at G.C. Murphy as a clerk and in the business office. She married the love of her life; Donald Pankey, on June 6, 1948. They shared 45 years together until his passing in 1992.

Together Donald and Peggy owned Donco Gifts in the 1970-80s.

Margaret was a homemaker all her life and enjoyed caring for her family. She was a lifelong member of the Saron United Church of Christ and a devoted Sunday school teacher.

Peggy illustrated the example of christian faith.

Left to cherish Peggy’s life are her daughters, Pamella Pankey of Linton and Janet Gravemier (Doug) of Linton; many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by parents, loving husband; brother, Charles Jr.; sisters, Anna (Paul) Shonk and Betty Jane Wills; niece, Judy Shonk.

Funeral service will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home on Monday, July 31, 2023 at 3 p.m. with Jeff Fulk officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
