Larry M. Corbin, age 82, lifelong resident of Linton, passed away at 4:41 p.m. on Friday, November 24, 2023, at Shakamak Good Samaritan Society in Jasonville. He was born on January 21, 1941, in Linton at the old hospital, the son of Paul W. and Edna E. (Roush) Corbin.

Larry married the love of his life, Betty M. Hobson, on November 23, 1968. He retired from General Electric in Linton in 1994, after many years of working as a punch press operator. He formerly worked at Linton Bowling Lanes, where he learned to excel in bowling. He bowled in several leagues, including a travel league.

Larry was proud of his beloved family, home, and his yard, which was landscaped by his large rock collection. One of his great pleasures was playing cards with his Wednesday breakfast group at Switz City Christian Church. He would have played cards all night with his family and friends. He was an avid and faithful Linton Miner fan, and he loved his Indiana Hoosiers. He so enjoyed traveling across the world with his wife and making numerous friends along the way. Larry was a friend to everyone he met. He was a member of Lincoln Christian Church and he enjoyed his church family.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty; two sons, Chris (Julie) Corbin and Aaron Corbin, both of Linton; a sister, Paula Reynolds of Lafayette; two brothers, Paul W. Corbin of Bonney Lake, Wash. and Jesse (Cheryl) Corbin of Linton; sisters-in-law, Carol Gaines and Judy Mayor; brother-in-law, Randy (Sharon) Hobson; a grandson, Stevie Ellis (Beth Ogden) of Jasonville; a granddaughter, Jerika Ellis (Seth Stinebaugh) of Linton; great-granddaughters, Addy, Izzy and Sophie; great-grandsons, Asa and Ryder; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his dear friend, Ruth Turchi.

Funeral service will be held at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home Linton Chapel at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 2, 2023, Cliff Gano officiating. Burial will follow at Clayton Cemetery in Linton, on the property of his family’s homestead of over 160 years.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home, Friday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Saturday.

Memorial contributions may be made to Greene County Clothe-A-Child and Toys-For-Tots, through the funeral home.
