Dixie Lee Cavanaugh passed away peacefully on December 3, 2023, in Vincennes. Born on March 6, 1941, in Linton, Dixie was a beacon of light and love to all who knew her.

Dixie’s life was one of devotion and care, a journey that began as the cherished daughter of the late Rosa “Myers” Powers. Her heart found its match when she married Paul Leslie Cavanaugh on March 10, 1958, in her hometown of Linton. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter until Paul’s passing on June 6, 2011.

A dedicated homemaker, She was the loving mother of Paula Carroll (David) of Bicknell and Diana Berry (David) of Patoka. Her nurturing spirit extended to her grandson, Jeremy Berry, whom she adored with all her heart.

Dixie’s talents were many, but she was particularly known for her exceptional skills in sewing and crocheting. Her creative legacy will live on in every stitch and pattern she lovingly created.

Dixie’s memory will be forever cherished by her children, grandson, and the countless lives she touched. Her unwavering love, strength and compassion are the hallmarks of her remarkable life. There will be a visitation Friday, December 8, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Home, Bicknell Chapel with a service immediately following at 1 p.m. with Pastor Mike DeCoursey officiating also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Bicknell Memorial Cemetery.
