Daric Levi Pounds, 23, of Hymera, left this world behind him on January 4, 2024.

He was born March 6, 2000 in Terre Haute, to Shad A. Pounds and Jennifer D. (Deschamp) Norris.

Survivors include his mother, Jennifer Norris (Todd) of Hymera; father, Shad Pounds (Terri) of Farmersburg; sister, MacKensie Aarnink (Cole) of Shelburn; stepsisters, Brittany Taylor (Collin) of Plainfield, Ashley Norris of Muncie, Kaylyn Frey of Terre Haute, Alexis Koerner of Farmersburg and Anne Marie Koerner of Indianapolis; his adored niece and nephews, Emma and Colesen Aarnink and Trace and Jeter Kelley; maternal grandparents, Terry Deschamp (Jackie) of Jasonville; paternal grandfather, Hank Pounds of Graysville; maternal great-grandparents, Joan Everwine (Dane), Roberta Deschamp and ‘Mamaw’ Debbie Norris of Hymera; many aunts and uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Janice Garrett (Michael); paternal great-grandparents, Ross Pounds (Naomi) and Pete Grubaugh (Betty); maternal great-grandfathers, Ronald Deschamp and Bob Earlywine; uncle Dirk Pounds and stepbrother, Cade Frey.

Daric graduated from North Central High School in Farmersburg Class of 2018. He worked at both Shakamak State Park and Pizza Villa, he also volunteered with Canine Rescue and Gods Safe Haven. Daric was an avid gamer and loved music. Our quiet, sometimes shy boy was becoming a man and prospering into a fine one at that. From a young age, Daric’s quick wit, love for others and sweet temperament were apparent in all aspects of life. He had a great appreciation for anything that was ever given to him but would not ask for anything from anyone. He was charismatic, polite and so literal that you had to be careful or he would assume you were serious. He took everything to heart and would be worried about others before ever worrying about himself. Daric was just a toddler when, one day, the dog got wet and he put her in the dryer to dry her off so she wasn’t cold. He hid candy from the candy dish at church so there was enough for those who needed it, as he stashed it in various places in the building. He also was quite the character on the track at THQMA (Terre Haute Quarter Midget Association) and loved his quarter midget family as much as they loved him. As he grew older, his thirst for knowledge grew deeper. He was wise beyond his years and spent many days just listening to or reading up on all the latest news, technology or happenings in our world.
