Carol Darlene Bechtel

Carol Darlene Bechtel, 85, of Odon, went to Heaven with her loving family by her side, on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at Ketcham Memorial Center in Odon. Darlene was born on February 6, 1938 in Odon to Leonard and Alma (Smith) Howard. She married John A. Bechtel on December 1, 1956.

Darlene was a member of the Odon Christian Church. She worked at Bloomfield State Bank in Newberry, retiring in 2000 with 28 years of service. Darlene loved flowers and working outside, but most of all, her family and time spent with them.

Family left to cherish the memories of Darlene include son, Brian Lee (Janet) Bechtel of Crawfordsville; daughter, Tina Michele (Rick) Burden of Odon; grandchildren, Darrin (Kylie) Bechtel and Dalton (Morgan) Bechtel, both of Crawfordsville, Trinity Crecelius of Odon and Gracie Mae (Logan) Moffatt of Plainville; great-grandchildren, Camden Bechtel, Collins Bechtel, Maddox Bechtel, Lane Bechtel and Kaitlynn Moffatt; brother, Larry Howard and sister, Marcile Bauer.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Bechtel; brothers, Bill, Dexter, Dale, Floyd and Eldon.

Funeral services to honor the life of Darlene will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at Meng Family Funeral Home in Odon with Brother Richard Crabtree and Aric Wade officiating. Darlene will be laid to rest in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Odon.

Family and friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, January 22 and from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Ketcham Memorial Center. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
