Betty Skeel

Betty Skeel, age 100, passed away Thursday evening, February 15, 2024 at Autumn Trace in Linton. She lived in Worthington until 2023 when she moved to Autumn Trace. She was born on a rural farm on April 13, 1923 in Elnora and lived most of her life on a farm west of Worthington. She was the daughter of Dale and Lula (Begeman) Weathers.

She was a member of the Worthington First Christian Church. She enjoyed spending time at Worthington Senior Center playing cards. She served on local committees and was an active member of the Worthington Jefferson Alumni Association, Christian Church Women’s Service Council and the Historical Society. For over 32 years, Betty was the office manager and bookkeeper for the Greene County Farm Bureau Co-op.

Betty is survived by her son, David Skeel of Frankfort, Ky.; two nieces, Susan (Kenny) Fiscus and Luann (Tom) Shelton; nephews, James (Michele) Weathers, Marc Skeel and Ryan Skeel as well as a sister in-law, Janice Skeel.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Ernest “Ernie” Skeel; her parents, Dale and Lula Weathers; brother and sister-in-law, Kenny and Carol Weathers and brother-in-law, Harold Skeel.

Per her request, there will be no service. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Worthington First Christian Church, Women’s Service Council.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Worthington.
