Sharon (Freed) Jones

Sharon (Freed) Jones, age 79, of Brownstown, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Jones was a faithful member of Brownstown Christian Church. Sharon retired from Crane Naval Base after 26 years of service as a government program analyst. Sharon loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved her church family and her dog, Lucy. Sharon enjoyed reading, watching television, gardening and feeding the birds. Born on September 27, 1944, in Odon, Sharon was the daughter of Eugene and Lorene (Maryfield) Freed, both of whom preceded her in death. On July 14, 1972, in Odon, she married Larry L. Jones, and he preceded her in death on March 21, 2007. Survivors include one son, Brian Jones of Brownstown; two daughters, Teresa (Tony) King of Seymour and Nila (Tim) Reedy of Freetown; one brother, Eric Freed of Odon; one sister, Myra (John) Riggs of Solsberry; five grandchildren, Jessica (Evan) Murphy, Kayla King, Peyton King, Haley (Zach) Motosicky and Dalton Reedy; and two great-grandchildren, Weslyn Motosicky and Tucker Murphy. Sharon was also preceded in death by one sister-in-law, Garnet Freed. Funeral services for Sharon (Freed) Jones will be conducted at 12 p.m. on Monday, March 11, 2024, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, with Pastor Mitchell McIntyre and Pastor Doug Pogue officiating. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 12 p.m. on Monday, March 11, 2024, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc. Interment will follow at Marco Cemetery in Lyons at 3:30 p.m. Memorials may be given to Brownstown Christian Church.
