Ralph “Bogie” Dwayne Bogard

Ralph “Bogie” Dwayne Bogard, 68, of Merom passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2024. He was in an ambulance wreck on US 41 then lifelined to Methodist Hospital where he passed away in route to the hospital.

Ralph was born on December 2, 1955 in Sullivan, the son of Milburn Troy Bogard and Nelda W. Pinkston Bogard. He married Roma B. Willson Bogard on May 19, 1979. Ralph worked several places in his lifetime including Bezy Jones as a diesel mechanic, truck driver hauling coal for Elmer Buchta Trucking and 36 years at Hoosier Energy where he retired in 2013 after an accident with a big steel door falling on him, forcing an early retirement. Ralph’s hobby was trap shooting and was a member of the Epsion, Oaktown, Carlisle, Linton, Bruceville, Robison Seelyville, Evansville and Indy Trap Clubs. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Ralph is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Donna Jean Reynolds.

Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years, Roma B. Willson Bogard; sister, Rita L. Bogard; sons, Michael S. (Amanda Jo) Bogard, Emery E.A. Heady (Jessica Baize) and Devon D. Deverick; 25 foster children; 13 grandchildren, including Dylan McCammon, Savanna McCammon (Kyler Brown) and Tegan Heady as well as one great-grandchild, Lincoln Brown. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Ralph will be sadly missed.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 22, 2024 at Brust Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Norman Santus officiating. Interment will follow in Bethany Cemetery in Carlisle. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Friday, March 22, 2024 at Brust Funeral Home.
