Lyons American Legion Auxillary will be serving breakfast from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the upstairs hall. The public is welcome.

A perennial exchange will be held at the Center Township Fire Department, just five miles from I-69 in Greene County. There is a cost of $10 for those who register for the continental breakfast and lunch. Register at theperennialexchange.org where you can also learn more about the group. Two speakers will also be at the swap to provide information on various garden topics.

The Greene County Historical Society will meet at 2 p.m. in the community room of the Bloomfield Public Library. The program will be “Bloomfield Through the Years: A Bicentennial Celebration” including a photographic stroll down memory lane with photos from Bob Jackson’s collections. As the town of Bloomfield turns 200 this year, the group thinks it will be only fitting to look through all the changes the town has gone through over the years. Everyone is welcome.

Linton Public Library will host “Play-to-Learn Time” at 10:30 a.m. with fun, educational games and activities for little ones.

Wednesday, April 24

Linton Public Library will host “Homeschooler’s Art Class” from 1-2 p.m. with a fun art lesson for grades K-6.

Vet to Vet Cafe will take place at the William T. Murphy Community and Wellness Center, located at 615 W Glenburn Road in Linton across from Glenburn Senior Living, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.. Breakfast will be served as veterans can come together for conversation and camaraderie. For questions or more information, call 812-233-2621 or 812-699-1862.

The Worthington Tri Kappa chapter, Delta Nu, is having a spaghetti dinner from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Worthington Park Community Building. This dinner includes spaghetti, salad, breadsticks, dessert and your choice of water, tea or lemonade. This is a donation only with the proceeds going to the cost of purchasing wreaths for our veterans’ graves in the Worthington Cemetery. The wreaths will be purchased from Wreaths Across America. We must raise enough money so the 455 Veterans buried at our cemetery have a wreath. Each wreath costs $17.00. Individuals, businesses, etc., can sponsor a wreath by going to our Wreaths Across America page, located at http://www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/inwort.

Memory Makers Quilt and Craft Club will meet from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Bloomfield-Greene County Library community room at 125 S. Franklin St. in Bloomfield. Bring any project you want to start or finish and the supplies needed. There will be a pitch-in lunch, so come join for food, crafting, sharing recipes, new fabric stores and sewing machine repair shops. For more information, contact Tina at 812-825-9039.

Linton Public Library will host “Spin-a-Yarn” at 1 p.m.. We will be combining a book club with an art club. Come and discuss what books you are reading as you work on your art projects, whether they are knitting, crocheting or painting. We won’t be assigning books to read or teaching new projects, just relaxing and having fun together. The library will also host Scrapbook Club at 2:30 p.m.. This is a new program for teens to learn scrapbooking techniques while hanging out with friends. Bring your favorite photos.

The Greene County Master Gardeners will host their annual Flower and Patio Show at the Greene County Community Event Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.. Master Gardeners will have a plant sale and a rummage sale with gently used gardening items, and they will have free tree seedlings along with free seeds. There will be a wide variety of vendors with sun and shade plants and flowers, garden art and kids’ activities. Food will be available from Cabin View BBQ. Admission and parking are free.

The Worthington-Jefferson Township Public Library will present “An Evening With James Whitcomb Riley” at 6 p.m.. The library is located at 26 N Commercial Street in Worthington. James Whitcomb Riley, portrayed by professional historical actor Danny Russel, will share amusing stories about Riley’s shenanigans, dancing on the medicine show, making a splash in newspapers and on the lecture circuit and touring with Mark Twain and will perform his best-loved verses including “The Raggedy Man”, “When the Frost is on the Punkin’” and “Little Orphant Annie”. Guests will also learn about his role in creating Raggedy Ann and the founding of Riley Hospital.

The Fourth Annual Madi’s Day of Hope is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Linton’s Humphreys Park. This year’s event will help build the Madi’s Hope Foundation, with a major goal of providing gift baskets to sick children. The organization’s namesake, the late Madison Moore, was on the receiving end of similar gifts during her time at Riley Children’s Hospital and her family wants to give back in a similar way.

The Worthington-Jefferson Township Public Library will present “Abraham Lincoln, American Hero” at 6 p.m. at the library, located at 26 N Commercial Street in Worthington. Lincoln, portrayed by professional historical actor Danny Russel, will provide guests with a spoken history of Lincoln and his character strengths shaped largely in the Midwest, such as his honest nature, love of learning, mastery of language, respect for hard work, empathy for his fellow man, opposition to slavery and ability to lead.

The Worthington-Jefferson Township Public Library, located at 26 N Commercial Street in Worthington, will present “An Evening With Daniel Boone” at 6 p.m.. Boone, portrayed by professional historical actor Danny Russel, will tell stories of his life including his loss of two sons and a brother settling “the dark and bloody ground of Kentucky”, discovering caverns in Southern Indiana, rescuing his kidnapped daughter, defeating Native Americans and teaching a few Shawnee phrases.

Ongoing & Future Events

Shakamak Preschool enrollment will take place by appointment only on four Fridays in April from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m., including: April 5, April 12, April 19 and April 26. The preschool program, which includes a $40 weekly fee, will be two half-day sessions from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. or 12 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Space is limited. Enrollment appointment attendants should bring a birth certificate, social security number, immunization records and proof of guardianship, if applicable. Linton Public Library will host Spanish/English classes open to all ages and speaking abilities on Wednesdays from 6-8 p.m.. Yoga with Belinda Baysinger will be available on Fridays at 9 a.m. on a donation basis. Please bring your own towel or mat.

The Linton Public Library Summer Reading Program early sign-up will begin Tuesday, May 28 through May 31. The program is for adults, teens and children.

American Legion Auxiliary 479 in Lyons will host a breakfast from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. on the third Saturday of every month, including a full breakfast menu.

Team of Mercy Suicide Support Group meets the third Thursday of every month from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. at Switz City Fire Department at 206 Charlotte Ave in Switz City. This is a closed meeting for those who have lost a loved one to suicide. We want individuals to feel safe and comfortable and know we take their grief very seriously. Lyons Town Council will hold regular meetings at 5:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month in the Lyons Community Building meeting room, 600 West Broad Street in Lyons.

Westgate Board meetings for 2023 will take place on the second Tuesday of the month at WestGate Academy at 1:30 p.m..

Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library will host family game day on the second Friday of the month from 12:30-4:30 p.m.. Everyone is invited to join and spare time for fun. Board games, card games and puzzles will all be available to play.

Jasonville Public Library will host a story hour on the first Saturday of each month at 10 a.m.. Stories are read, crafts are made and treats are enjoyed. All are welcome.

The Eastern branch of the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library will host story time at 10:30 a.m. every Wednesday. All children are welcome.

Feed My Sheep Bible Bookstore at 74 1/2 S. Main St. in Linton will be hosting community prayer meetings each Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.. Everyone is welcome. Please use the rear entrance where there is also parking available.

Apostolics of Greene County is offering a Christian Intervention Program for drug, alcohol or any addiction abuse. This is a 20-week ongoing program located at 310 E. Vincennes St. in Linton. Sessions are Sundays at 4:30 p.m. with the entrance on the west side of the building, going downstairs into the fellowship hall. An elevator is available at the north end of the west side entrance if needed.

The Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support group meets the first Monday of the month from 6-7 p.m. at Switz City Christian Church located at 286 Charlotte Ave in Switz City. For questions, call the Alz. Assoc. at 800-272-3900 or Dayna Firestone at 812-798-0325.

The Ladies Aid meets every third Wednesday at noon at the church. Come join the fellowship and fun. You need not be a member to join. The Community Men’s Group meets every second Saturday at 8 a.m. at the church. Breakfast is served. Everyone is invited. You do not have to be a member of the church.

The Greene County Literacy Coalition hosts twice-weekly meetings to foster language learning for native English and Spanish speakers. The group meets from 6-8 p.m. every Tuesday at the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library Annex and Wednesdays at the Linton Public Library. Apostolics of Greene County offers free lunch, good conversation and optional bible study at Grandma Bault’s Soup Kitchen located at Apostolic Church 310 E Vincennes Street in Linton every second and fourth Thursday of the month. Lunch is served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.. Word is given from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.

Newberry Town Council meetings are the first Monday of each month at 6 p.m. at town hall. If it is a holiday, the meeting will be the next evening, Tuesday at 6 p.m. Newberry Town Hall, 430 Broad St. (St Rd 57) in Newberry.

The Feed Store Silent Book Club will meet from 3-5 p.m. on the third Saturday of every month in the taproom of Feed Store Beer Co.. A short social time will kick off the club followed by silent reading time of any book of your choosing and discussions/recommendations to wrap things up.
