William (Bill) Hixon, 60, of Bloomfield passed away Wednesday morning, May 8, 2024, at Community South Rehab Center in Greenwood. Born February 16, 1964 in Linton, he was the son of Charles and Betty Hixon.

After graduating from Bloomfield High School in 1982, he received an associate degree from Vincennes University and went on to attend classes at Ivy Tech.

He worked at several positions before working and retiring from NSWC Crane in the Spectrum Warfare Systems Dept. He was an administrative/technical specialist working with the SLQ-32 System. He enjoyed his job and missed the people there after he retired.

He was a member of the Bloomfield Masonic Lodge, Sons of the American Legion Chapter 196, American Legion Riders Chapter 196 and lifetime member of Crane VFW Auxiliary.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Sherry (Hasler) Hixon, whom he married on October 10, 1997; his step-children, Kara Bowling, Angela Smith and Megan Cook as well as his grandchildren, Patrick Bowling, Lauren Meinzer, Alex Bowling, Landon Bowling, Dane Smith, Shea Smith, Bryn Smith, Ashlyn Stahl, Adisson Stahl and Kynlee Cook.

He was preceded in death by his mother and several aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 13, 2024 at Jenkins Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until time of service.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Walnut Grove Cemetery.
