FREE ACCESS: NWS issues Hazardous Weather Outlook for coming days

Friday, May 24, 2024

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Greene County and 38 surrounding counties in central Indiana for Friday, May 24 through Thursday, May 30.

For Friday evening after 6 p.m. storms are possible.

“At this point, there is not that much concern for Friday,” said Greene County Emergency Management Agency Director Roger Axe. “However, things could change. Saturday looks fairly stable. Sunday, however, is a different story.”

Axe said Sunday morning from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., “We could have severe storms in this area with heavy rains. There should be some break, and then the severe storms may pick back up from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. This could very well impact the 500 Race on Sunday.”

Axe added the following advice:

“Please pay attention to weather reports this weekend and on Sunday. This is especially if you are traveling. If you have not enrolled in Greene County Warning Systems Reverse 911, please do so.”
