Some things in life always feel 'just right'
I started writing at a young age. So young, in fact, that I don't remember a time where I didn't have journals stashed around my room, in my school desk and stowed away in a backpack zipper.
There was always a feeling of comfort that came from putting a pen to paper and just letting words flow on to the sheet.
For this love, I can thank my grandfather, Dale Tharp.
He was always writing. Letters to Jimmy K. Wright, Jerry Denbo, family in Oklahoma and even letters to his kids and grandkids while he was away visiting family during the summers.
Now it's a little different.
The clicking of keys and pace of words that string themselves across my computer screen have in some ways replaced my pen and paper.
I've always felt like I had something to say, and for my parents.....well, journals were a good thing. There was only so much talking I could do before I got the look from my mother that meant it was probably way past due for my story to end.
They never discouraged my writing though. My mother saved every clipping from my high school writing internship at the Greene County Daily World. Along with those, every Daily News article that was written during my time at Ball State University can be found in a tote.
Articles spanning from the wishing of good luck to the upcoming sectional football games, to my article where I sat in with other student journalists and spoke with President Obama on the importance of higher education and an inspired millennial generation, fill this tote in the back of my parents closet.
When I wasn't writing, I found myself blogging.
Keeping my family and friends up-to-date on the happenings during my time in northern New York State became a way to feel the clicking of keys again.
And now I'm here.
Writing for you.
Sometimes things just feel right. They just feel like coming home.
For me, that will always be words, writing and the familiar click of the keyboard as I hammer out the latest article, blog post, or Facebook status.
I started with the Greene County Daily World eight years ago as a senior in high school, and somethings will always feel "just right."
