Some benefits still worthwhile
BENEFITS. Of insurance. Of friendships. Of eating healthy. Of exercise. Of fish oil. If we watch TV at all or read the promises of the many anti-aging products found across the web, we know the gimmicks.
Oh and chocolate. How about that wonderful delight we can now eat without guilt?
But, did you know that one of the most powerful benefit is found within the words we speak. Especially our "self-talk." Oh, that's a good one! Who in the world are we talking to when looking in the mirror and getting ready to go somewhere? I don't know about you, but I am pretty sure I have tried just about any and all products available and more than once. However, many of these benefits are built with soft lens camera shots and promises with no foundation. They may seem to work for a bit, but before long fail and we start looking for another magic fix.
This is a mirror image of what life can do to the matters of the heart. When relationships fail, children turn from right to wrong, that job counted on goes to another, and other many hardships we encounter our heart becomes heavy and unable to bear weight of the losses. We may turn to the suggestions of the world to fix them. The promised benefits may help for a time, but, when not based on a solid foundation, do not remedy but covers the issue.
We try everything, but our past failures force into our present and set another future failure in motion.
Thankfully, there are powerful benefits based on truth and not a magic scheme to counter these wiles. In Psalm 103 we are given many benefits. The Lord does not make it hard to receive these benefits and they are always readily available. In the first few verses we are encouraged by these words, "Bless the Lord, Oh my soul and all that is within me, bless His holy name. Bless the Lord, oh my soul, and forget not all His benefits."
His benefits are many and each one has you in mind. Speak out these benefits to build up your self esteem. Be assured that they have been tried and found to be on a foundation of rock that will never fail. Talk to yourself of the goodness of the Lord and the great love He has for you. Before long you will become what the Lord says you are.
Have a cuppa tea, grab your package of benefits from Psalm 103:1-22 and see what blessings the Lord has for you.
