To the Editor: Greene County is blessed with some very fine non-profit organizations including some which are faith based. One of our faith-based jewels is Open Arms Christian Ministries in Switz City. Unfortunately, Open Arms inherited the old Youth Alternatives buildings on State Road 54. They were purchased/built with USDA grant funds to be used for educational purposes. They are fine for other purposes...

WRV students help district's needy

The cupboard was almost bare at the SonShine Shop Food Pantry in Worthington before students from White River Valley Schools delivered over 21,000 items to the food bank which serves low-income individuals and families in the WRV district. In a one-week food drive, students at the WRV High School collected almost 17,000 items of food while students at the WRV Worthington Elementary School collected exactly 4,554 items...

A rural Bloomfield man was killed Monday morning in a head-on collision on State Road 45 in eastern Greene County, marking the 15th local traffic fatality in the current calendar year. Hennette falls short in bid for state rep seat

PAOLI -- A Greene County native fell a few votes short in his effort to become the newly-named state representative in District 62. Linton resident Mike Hennette, a retired coal mine manager and former Greene County Highway Department Superintendent, was defeated 28-21 by Orleans resident Sandra Blanton a vote of Democrat precinct committee representatives from the district.
