All Linton police officers are now carrying new digital cameras, they have a new computer in their squad room and new radios are on the way -- thanks to a $5,000 donation from the WalMart Supercenter in Linton. Store Manager Jason Wells said the store received the money from the WalMart Corporation to give back to the community. The corporation gives grants from the home office to the stores and then the store makes the decision about where to donate the money...

Linton-Stockton High School football fans have had more good days than bad over the last decade or so. Since 1997, the Miners have won five sectional championships and four regional titles (1997, 1998, 2004 and 2008) But with all that success, there have been four losses and no wins at the semistate level in the history of Miner football. Some of those semistate setbacks have been excruciating, including a loss at Knightstown 11 years ago...

Aliyah Irene Samm was born Thursday, Oct. 30, 3008 at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. She weighed 8 pounds and 10.5 ounces, and 20 inches long. The town of Bloomfield now has its own established traffic regulations after the town council approved ordinance 2008-06 during a special session on Tuesday afternoon. Prior to the meeting, Town Marshal Ken Tharp explained that the ordinance allows traffic citation fines to be paid locally and if you are cited for a routine traffic stop it will not take points off your drivers license...

The 2009 budget for the Greene County Solid Waste Management District was adopted Tuesday morning. The proposed budget as presented by SWMD Supervisor Erek Wilson during a meeting at the Greene County Courthouse in Bloomfield totals $278,243, compared with $271,763 for the current budget year...

There are no buyers for a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV that was formally used by the Greene County Ambulance Service. For several months now, the Ambulance Service has solicited sealed bids for the vehicle that was formerly used as a "chase vehicle" by a paramedic supervisor during emergency runs...

A Bloomfield man and woman were arrested Friday after a Greene County Child Protective Services worker contacted the Sheriff's Department about a possible meth lab in a residence with two small children. Rachel Murawski, 24, and Michael S. Tomes, 22, were both taken into custody by Sheriff's Det. George Dallaire and booked into jail under $10,000 bond. Tomes posted bond the same day but as of late Tuesday, Murawski remained in jail...

Twenty-eight-year-old Billy J. Utt of Odon was wanted in three counties when he was arrested in Linton around 11 p.m. on Monday. Linton Police Cpl. Chad Crynes was on routine patrol when he passed by the Fast Point gas station on NE A St. and saw Utt exiting the store and getting into a vehicle in the parking lot. Crynes was aware there was a warrant out for Utt's arrest...

Greene County Sheriff Terry Pierce says the ceiling panels at the Greene County Jail in Bloomfield that six inmates recently compromised have been secured. The inmates made passage to and from their assigned cellblocks and engaged in sexual activity on numerous occasions in the last two months...

Joy L. Stout, 76, of Coalmont, passed away at 2:34 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17, 2008 at Regional Hospital in Terre Haute. Born May 15, 1932 in Shelburn, she was the daughter of William Bush and Hallie (Hostettler) Bush. She married Donald Stout on March 19, 1950...
