Madison Claire Jones, of Linton, was stillborn at 4:10 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute. She was the daughter of Josh A. Jones and Leanna M. Sullivan of Linton. Other survivors include: maternal grandparents, Lisa A. and Tom Cox of Jasonville and Wendell Sullivan of Shelburn; paternal grandfather and step grandmother, Jerry and Cathy Jones of Linton; paternal grandmother, Kimberly Hayden; maternal great-grandparents, Wendell and Jeanie Sullivan of Bedford; paternal great-grandparents, Karen and Carl Jones of Jasonville, Jerry and Gail Wasnidge of Jasonville, Doris Simpson of Coalmont, Betty Walters of Hymera; many aunts, uncles and cousins.. ...

Webster in custody in Monroe County

A warrant for the arrest of Brian Webster, 22, of Ellettsville, was issued late last week in Greene County for an alleged theft but police aren't looking for him. He's in jail in Monroe County where he's being held on a total of $7,000 in surety bonds plus $1,000 cash bonds in connection with at least four felony charges...

Alcohol linked to the arrest of two weekend drivers

Two drivers were arrested by Linton police early Sunday morning on preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated -- both near the intersection of 12th and SE C Streets around 1:30 a.m. Linton police officers were on the scene investigating one vehicle that had gotten stuck in mud by a driver that could not stand very well when one officer had a narrow escape and was almost hit by another vehicle...

Virgil Davis is the new Richland Township Trustee. Davis, of rural Bloomfield, was selected by majority vote during a caucus of the four Greene County Republican Party precinct committeemen from Richland Township on Monday evening. Two other candidates were seeking the position -- two term former Greene County Sheriff Gene Gastineau and Rev. Keith Long, who serves as pastor of the Furance Christian Church.
