A preliminary charge of class D felony intimidation was filed Monday against Randy J. Nickle, 27, Linton, for allegedly threatening his brother's life while being in possession of a firearm. Vincennes Rivet gave up just three games as the host Lady Patriots defeated Linton-Stockton 5-0 in a high school girls tennis match Monday. A 20-year-old Bloomfield woman arrested over the weekend is wanted in Arizona and they're willing to come to Greene County to get her in order for her to stand trial on at least two felony charges. Robert Leo Daugherty, 62, Terre Haute, was arrested inside Greene County early Saturday morning after he failed to pull over when Sullivan County Sheriff's Deputy Brad Miller attempted a traffic stop. It's poppy time again. On Thursday, Linton Mayor Tom Jones signed a proclamation making May 1-2 Poppy Days in Linton. By signing the proclamation, he urged locals to pay tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the name of freedom by wearing the memorial poppy on these days...

Unlike the Simon and Garfunkel tune, the waters that the Richland-Plummer Creek Covered Bridge runs over aren't troubled. The bridge, however, has had its own share of woes lately, suffering graffiti and vandalism from misguided miscreants. Now, concerned citizens want to lay down the law regarding abuse of the historic landmark, originally built in 1883 and the last of its kind in the county...

Initial work is moving quickly to procure $2 million in funds which could bring a new wastewater treatment plant to service WestGate Technology Park. No timetable exists on construction, but promoters hope it will move fast. When completed, the facility could add Scotland's residents to a sewer system and spur further investment in the rapidly growing WestGate facility...

Judith K. Boger, 60, of Bicknell, went to be with the Lord at 6:52 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2009 at her residence. She was born in Pleasantville on April 8, 1949, and was the daughter of Raymond Chambers and Letha Mollet Chambers. Judy was a member of the Emmanuel Apostolic Church in Hymera, where she was also a Sunday School teacher...

Kathy A. Stewart, 61, of Terre Haute, and formerly of Sullivan and Linton died Sunday, April 26, 2009 in her home. She was born Oct. 8, 1947 in Linton to Robert Stewart and Lyda Panky Stewart. Survivors include a son, Donald "Buddy Weaver, Jr. of Linton; two daughters, Donna Wagner and her husband, Bryan of Lafayette and Ann Mesaeh and her husband, James of Terre Haute; a sister, Sylvia Simon and her husband, Ernie of Linton; nine grandchildren, Jonathon, Ashley, Bryan, Dylan, Rylee, Michael, Trinity, Kerri and Steven and several nieces and nephews.. ...
