Accident causes power outage in Linton

An accident late Saturday night caused a brief power outage for the city of Linton. Nick House, Linton's electrical supervisor, provided details on the matter. "A couple of young kids hit a pole on 'E' Street NE between 11th Street and the bridge. It knocked the wire off, broke a bracket on the pole and kicked the main power circuit to the city," House explained...

An 8-year-old boy riding a bike in Linton on Sunday afternoon suffered some injuries after being hit by a van that left the scene, but the driver was quickly located by local authorities. Linton Police Chief Troy Jerrell provided details on the matter that is currently being considered an accident. "We had the driver within minutes," he said. "We investigated it on Sunday for an hour or two and believe it was an honest mistake." According to the LPD offense report, Robert Blaine Smith, 17, Linton, backed the van out of a driveway and didn't realize the vehicle bumped into the boy. To the Editor: I am a volunteer at the Lyons Senior Center. We have many activities and events at the Center I'm sure the community would be interested in. For example, every month on the third Saturday we have a breakfast with a bake sale, every day of the week we are open and have a nice hot lunch for our seniors. We also have some very good euchre players that have a game going every day...
