There are so many aspects of life that I just don't understand
There are many things that I cannot comprehend. I do not have the brainpower, experience or skills to fully embrace the concept and therefore I don't understand.
I cannot comprehend why 98 percent of motorcycle owners feel the need to operate their "hogs" without a muffler and disturb everyone in seven counties when they roar away from a stop sign? The lovely community of Nashville, Ind., has become a haven for greasy, tattooed, leather garbed, bearded cyclists. They cruise through that pastoral town destroying the quietude. I just don't understand.
I cannot comprehend the mentality of people who write computer viruses and send them through the technology highway to cause problems. What kind of person would do that? What motivates that person to want to harm people both innocent and guilty? I just don't understand.
I cannot comprehend what possesses people who litter the streets, highways, rivers, lakes, fair grounds and other venues. Why can't people carry out what they carry in? Don't they realize the harm they are doing? Why can't they have consideration for the other billions of people who live on this planet?
I cannot comprehend why people have the need to ingest artificial substances into their bodies to "have a good time." Why do people drink alcoholic beverages, lose their perceptions and bodily control, then drive a car and kill others? Why do people consume alcoholic beverages and support an industry whose product causes so many deaths and injuries every year? What is the allure of getting a buzz on and losing all sense or propriety and common sense? The same questions could be asked of those who smoke marijuana, take heroin and methamphetamine and crack cocaine. What is going on in their lives that they think that is going to help? Their lives must be extremely sad and dysfunctional to hide behind the effects of those substances. I have never had a day so bad or a time of my life so wretched that I even considered consuming alcohol or other drugs. I just don't understand.
I cannot comprehend the overwhelming fascination and allegiance that Americans have for sports and those who play them. The fanaticism for sports has reached the level of religion and perhaps beyond. Let's see. Religious people give of themselves, their time and money; attend functions, speak the language, care for each other, persuade others to join them, study to increase their knowledge and understanding, travel long distances to participate and dress accordingly.
Wait a minute! That description also fits sports fans. They go further. When was the last time you saw a tailgate party at a church building? The money spent on sports far exceeds the money involved in churches throughout America. Hands down. I just don't understand.
If life were reduced to a euchre game, I would be a hand of nines and tens off trump. There are so many aspects of life that I just don't understand. Therefore, I'll have to call it low no trump and play the hand I was dealt.
