Is it really that important to know this stuff?
There is more information available today than ever before but the fact that you know it does not make that information have any significance in your life.
For example, did you know that there are about 70 words in the English language that have no rhyming words, i.e., silver, month, orange and purple? Is that important to know?
Do you know that the average number of dimples on a golf ball is 336? These dimples help the ball cut through the air for distance and true flight. Maybe someone should tell Tiger about this.
Now you know that you can't lick your elbow. I will venture that many of you will stop right now and try it. Can't do it unless you have a 21-inch tongue like a giraffe.
Do you know that there is a spot on your back called the acnestis that you cannot reach to scratch? I have one perhaps more than one. That is why I back up to a corner in the house and scratch like a bear or the pigs and cows used to on the farm. Now use that word in a sentence today and you will impress your friends and relatives with your wit and wisdom. Try it.
Here is some information that will neither prepare you to live a better life nor make you a better person. I wasted time today reading the news as reported by AOL on the Internet. I found an astounding emphasis on show business people. I found that Miley wore a barely there dress to an event; another star cut her gorgeous hair so short people were breathless; a beauty was planning to ditch her last name; J. Lopez got her beau a huge surprise for his birthday; a controversial star is dating an aging rocker and a country star proposed on stage.
A Playboy beauty talked about her sexy new show; Khloe and Lamar are fighting over a woman; (I will say this, the Kardashian family has the best-oiled publicity machine ever to maintain a high level of publicity about their solipsistic lives.); a housewife is leaving the show for good; (at least it will be for my good since I have never seen any of those housewife shows); an apprentice star goes on a rampage; a spat leads to tears on the Amazing Race; a reality star is definitely getting own show; Miley Cyrus is contemplating a huge move; stars and their look alikes; monkey attacks a celebrity couple and Kate Middleton is upset by hurtful rumor.
Another star is planning a tell-all about her affair; Kristen showed a lot of leg at a function; Beckham is unrecognizable on magazine cover; (How did anyone recognize her then?) Nicki Minaj is toning down her style; J. Beal is making wedding plans; J. Lopez video is slammed by a right wing group; S. Vergara's sexy SNL monologue and L. Lohan's desperate move.
Does any of that matter? That is information that you now have but does it improve your life or make any difference in your daily existence? I doubt it. Here is a thought. If your life is so meaningless that you live only to read about that swill you may have some serious issues with reality and I don't mean a supposed TV show.
